The origin of the tea ceremony dates back to the Tang and Song dynasties when the literati and scholars, monks and Taoist priests inspired people’s spirituality and wisdom by opening up their senses with the help of tea.

The Ming-Hua-Tang Tea House and the Chini Gallery are going to present the old but powerful concept of introducing arts with tea, in our case contemporary arts. Through this unique presentation, we hope to open up a different realm for both art and tea appreciation.

Now, please enjoy this extraordinary sensory experience by following the next four steps: clean, calm, contemplate, and honor.

Clean: Clean both your hands, and hopefully your worries as well, with a scoop of water.

Calm: With the Chinese calligraphy strokes you put down on the paper, you can breathe more deeply, calm yourself and achieve inner peace.

State: No words are shared when the first three cups of tea are served. During this quiet moment, energy can flow from your heart chakra to the crown chakra and then flow back to the heart. This can be a realization of Zen itself.

Honor: We pay our most respect to the tea ceremony, to all beings in the world, and to Heaven and Earth through the tea. World peace can take place within each and every one with the tea in hand.
